Mason Lake Road Race Series
"Racing to Race"

date: Saturdays - March 1, 8, & 15

location: Mason Lake, on Olympic Penninsula, WA. (In between Shelton and Belfair, WA)

course description: 12 mile loop around Mason Lake. Rolling hills no major climbs. Course that goes around the entier lake.

cost: $20 per race. Day of race registration only. USCF license required to race. One day license for category 5 men and 4 women is $10 and available at the race. To race in category 3 races and above you must have an USCF annual license ($60) which can be purchased at www.usacycling.org only (not for sale at the race).

prizes: None - points will be kept 10 deep each race.

registration: Registration/Parking will be located at the Start at the Mason Lake County Park at the North end of the lake. Parking is limited so please car pool.

race numbers: WSBA numbers will be used and can be purchased at www.wsbaracing.com (not for sale at the race). Rental numbers available at the race for a $10 rental fee (of which $5 is refundable). For out-of-state riders there is no fee to rent a number just a $5 deposit. Bib numbers will go on your RIGHT side. No warming up or down on the course!

notes: No warming up or down on the course. Please be very nice to all the local residents or we will loose the right to use this course!! Races may be split or combined based on the number of racers that show up.

directions: From Seattle it take approx. 1:45 min to get to Mason Lake. Take I-5 North or South to Tacoma and take the Bremerton exit (Hwy. 16). Follow this for about 27 miles until you get to Gorst then follow the signs to Hwy. 3 and Belfair. Go through Belfair and take Hwy. 106 towards Union and Twanoh St. Park on Hood Canal. From this turn on to Hwy 106 go approx. 4.3 miles and take a left on E. Trails Rd. - Mason Lake County Park. (If you get to Twanoh St. Park you missed the turn!!) Go up the hill and be glad it is not in the race - stay to the right for 3.2 miles and take a right at the next intersection. You are now on the course. Parking and Registration is 1 mile ahead on your right.

Note: From Olympia take Hwy 101 to Shelton then Hwy 3 - just past the Bayshore Golf Course take a left heading up the hill towards Lake Limerick. Stay on this road until it intersects with course at the South end of Mason Lake. Follow the brown signs to Mason Lake County Park at the North end of the lake.

other information: Masters A/B (Age 30 + cat. 1-3) Masters C/D (age 30+ cat. 4-5 and age 50+ all categories) Not scored separately within the race. Cat 1-2 women will race with the cat 3 men and will be scored separately.
